Seattle Multimodal Terminal at Colman Dock

Objective: Signal design for temporary and future access of Colman Dock, Seattle's largest ferry terminal, during construction to replace and refurbish part of the terminal.

Project Owner: Washington State Ferries

Services: Signal Design

Concord is responsible for providing a workable signalization solution for the temporary access of Colman Dock during construction to replace and refurbish part of the terminal's existing facility. Colman Dock is the largest ferry terminal in Seattle and supports transportation across Puget Sound on a daily basis. Washington State Ferries, the Federal Highway Administration, and the Federal Transit Administration are collaboratively proposing to replace the old and seismically vulnerable parts of Colman Dock in order to maintain its critical role as a regional multimodal transportation hub. The challenge of this project is to coordinate among three known mega projects planned in the area, which are the Elliott Bay Seawall Project, the Waterfront Project, and the Alaskan Way Viaduct Replacement Project. Concord has produced a temporary traffic signal design that fits in the context of these three projects and is forward compatible.
